I could have watched this on YouTube and not wasted a movie credit. Oh, well.
Having said that, I think some of the comments below are rather myopic and a bit arrogant, as they refuse to take into account cultural differences. Of course in the ideal world all cats should be neutered and ...Read more

Cat lovers will enjoy this awesome movie.

Stepanie, don't take my word for it, but talk to any animal shelter about what happens to animals on the street. You are blissfully unaware, I see.

Just watched this very warm-hearted film on my laptop with my cat, Lisa, on my chest. She purred contentedly throughout most the film so I take that as a sign. Two paws up!

I loved this film. A friend of my mother's gave it to her and we viewed it together and enjoyed it and were touched by it. We were both "cat people." It was the final film we watched as she died three weeks later. Therefore it's very special to me.

I saw Hank Green talk about this and have been wanting to watch it. Fascinating.

I couldn't watch this because I hate seeing animals not being taken care of properly, but allowed to propagate. There is nothing great about letting thousands of cats roam freely in garbage, disease, abuse and accidents. Same thing in Italy.

I'm not saying you have to watch it, but you might be surprised by how well the people featured in this film take care of their neighborhood cats. People in Istanbul make healthy food for cats, bottle-feed abandoned kittens, and take injured cats to the vet. These are the healthiest-looking ...Read more

Tzuria-I could only stand to watch about 10 min. It seems we have different standards for what is well taken care of. If they weren't on the street, there wouldn't be any "abandoned" kittens because the mother wouldn't have been killed by a car or what have you, ditto for the injured cats. ...Read more

There was no mention of spaying/neutering so I can't speak to that (though I 100% agree that they should be), but cats that are feral don't super want to be domesticated and I don't see the issue with letting them roam especially with how they are clearly received in Istanbul.

What a beautiful way to show the soul of cats, people and the city. I loved it.

Excellent. Truly excellent.

This is not just a "documentary about cats". This film is as much about humans as it is about cats, in fact much more so. One of the stand out characters for me was the gruff looking brute of a fisherman, who anyone seeing him first would probably think I would not want to be in a dark alley ...Read more

I wanted to watch this because I visited Istanbul years ago and encountered a lot of cats so I was intrigued by the subject. It is a heart-warming film that highlights the symbiotic relationship between the cats and people who live there, and provides a look at every day life in to the city ...Read more

Sorry, I think it's boring. It's 2/3 travelogue about Istanbul which is a fascinating city, and 1/3 pics of cats being cats. Turkish cats are no different from American cats. I thot there might be some narration describing the problems and solutions. Regret having wasted one credit on ...Read more

Hey Jean Did Anyone Ask For Your Snarky Opinion?????

Duh, the box that says "Share Your Comments"? Actually, the question is who asked for YOUR snarky opinion of my thoughts. Now I have to report you. :o(

Deserved every award it received and more! Not only an amazing documentary about cats, but a thoughtful look at Istanbul, its future and that of its feline and human citizens. Absolutely splendid photography and editing!

Is there closed captions in English? It doesn't show any on my IMAC: am I missing something?

Jessica

When you hover over the play button a bar appears, on the far right there is a tiny white box with the letter CC. Hover or click on that and options will come up for closed captioning in English.

A very sweet and decently enjoyable watch. If you're a cat person like me, it's worth the 80 or so minutes of your time that it is.

My comment is a bit of a spoiler, so if you haven't seen the movie yet - you may want to skip this. I think this film was not just a documentary, but also a historical and cultural record. Part of the message of the film (aside from all the splendid felines and feline ambassadors!) was ...Read more
